If you happen to be in Michigan, you’re not far from a great hiking or backpacking trail or area. A couple of top spots include Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

The Outdoor Discovery Center is a 120 acre nature preserve on the south side of Holland, Michigan. The 4.5 mile trail system consists of mowed grass, boardwalks, wood chips, and gravel and travels through 5 distinct ecosystems. Trails are open 7 days a week during daylight hours, 365 days a year.

Trail Spotters of Michigan is a network of shuttle and carspotting services through Michigan.

Wildernet is another Web resource that has a lot of info on finding a good hiking trail.

AllTrails has lots of good information on finding something to do on a great trail this weekend.
